Chapter XV:

The First Mystery of Curtis

Kara asked, “That’s not who I think it is, is it?”

Curtis replied, “I do not know; I haven’t seen him in 30 years.”

Curtis then patted down the body, which appeared to be his father, but he wasn’t quite convinced. As Curtis was patting him down, he found a small pad in the left coat pocket. Curtis took the pad out of the pocket, opened it up, and saw a well-folded piece of paper.

He opened it up and it read:

Curtis, my son. If you have found this notepad on me, it means I have succeeded in keeping the totem out of Sleepy Hollow until you were on your pre-written path. This pod was the pod I used to bring you to this world from the stars.

I know I haven’t been around much since you left home, but I want you to know, I did everything I could to keep the totem safe so only you would find it. If you truly did find this pod first, and I hope you did, then not only have I succeeded, but so has your sister, whom at this point, you should have found out about 12 hours ago. From this point, if everything went according to plan, Nala has her strict orders, so please do not judge her too harshly as she is only following them for the safety of our family.

I know you probably have so many questions, and I wish I was there to answer them, but sadly, I had to sacrifice myself to keep the totem safe until it was time. This was not originally part of the plan, so the plan had to change at that point because something needed to be done right away. Below my feet is a box, and in that box, you will find the totem. If you're thinking it's impossible, I want you to know something right now. You are entering a world that is not only old to you, but is also, because of the plan, extremely new to you.This box is a piece of technology that our family developed and sent to me.. You will not be able to keep it because as soon as you open it, the totem will go back to the place where I found it, and the box will disappear.

Word of caution: Once you open this box and the totem goes back, the werewolves will know of its return. Once this happens, you need to protect Kara at all costs. I can only tell you that if you fail, everyone who has been affected by this curse, including yourself, will not only be cursed for all eternity, but will also phase out of existence to a place not even our family can go. For your sake, I suggest you solve the case quickly without releasing the totem; otherwise, you will make it difficult on yourself. I know you can’t resist a challenge.

In this notepad are the coordinates of where I found the totem. It is also where the totem will be once you release it out of the box.
